Avient's two new ECCOH LSFOH grades target industrial and telecom cables

Avient has added two new ECCOH crosslinkable polyolefin-based compounds for telecommunications and industrial cable manufacturers to its low-smoke, halogen-free (LSFOH) product portfolio. The continued growth of fiber optic cables, telecommunications infrastructure and the new IEC 60794-6 standard is increasing the demand for LSFOH products. Two new formulations for cable sheathing, ECCOH 5565 and 5978 UV, extend the range of solutions and increase the service life of the cable.

ECCOH 5565 has excellent flexibility and environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR), and can withstand up to 20,000 bending fatigue cycles. This makes it useful for power and control cables in industrial machinery, heating and air-conditioning systems, and factory engineering systems, which need to be resistant to bending when installed or used. It also has good temperature resistance, can operate in a wide temperature range from minus 104 F to 176 F, and has excellent water absorption resistance. This makes it suitable for dry fiber optic cable applications or applications requiring increased cold resistance, including indoor and outdoor duct cable applications, antenna power supply or hybrid cables for 5G applications.

The ECCOH 5978 UV formula combines high flame retardancy (the highest CPR grade B2ca, s1, a1, d) with good char forming properties and excellent ESCR. This makes them valuable for in-air introduction of cables, which usually endure constant pressure from the clamps that hold them in place. These formulations also have excellent UV resistance and can protect outdoor/indoor cables from various weather conditions.

The ECCOH 5978 UV formulation can be applied to directly buried cables and other pipelines or indoor applications where additional flame and low drip performance are required and/or cable fixing and movement will cause additional stress on the cable sheath.

Avient's global marketing director Matt Mitchell said: "In a world where communication speed and reliability are becoming critical, high-performance cable solutions are emerging. These new formulations can help cable manufacturers meet demand and extend the life of their products. ."

The decline in PP and PET labels proved to be temporary, as the imbalance between supply and demand pushed up prices and restricted the supply of all five commodity resins. PS hiking is particularly cruel.

Many conditions must be met to obtain the best wall distribution in a PET bottle. As always, skilled operators are indispensable.

A new study shows how the type and amount of LDPE and LLDPE blends affect the processing and strength/toughness properties of blown films. Data is shown for LDPE-rich and LLDPE-rich blends.
